Our Team of Dedicated Professionals.

CFMS-West is a registered office with the Professional Engineers of Ontario, members of the Building Commissioning Association and Canada Green Building Council. We employ a team of engineers and certified technologists who have many years of experience with the construction process, design of mechanical and electrical systems, total building commissioning, project management and facilities management. Our dedicated team will develop a total commissioning plan designed with your goals in mind that reflects the size and complexity of your building.

Al Haye, President/Principal R.P.A., M.E., EMP

To his role as CFMS-West President, Al brings 20 years of experience in facilities/project management and HVAC, plus 20 years in the commissioning and maintenance of facilities. He holds Ontario licences in Refrigeration, Electrical (Master) and Gas Fitting, and is a certified Real Property Administrator (RPA) under the Building Owners and Manager Institute Canada (BOMA) program. In 2017 Al became an Energy Management Professional, certified by the Energy Management Association.

Al began his career in the real estate division for more than 20 years. During that time he worked in several divisions which included project manager for mechanical, electrical and architectural construction projects. Al was also a Facility Manager, Mechanical Systems Instructor and a Client Centre Manager. As the client centre manager he was responsible for 2100 locations in Ontario.

Since 1997 Al has been involved in commissioning of facilities, and in 2000 joined CFMS Toronto. After working with CFMS Toronto for 2 years, CFMS-West was created. Al is the President and Principal of CFMS-West Consulting.

Since 2003, Al has lead countless projects commissioning and re-commissioning buildings across every sector of the construction industry. Al's well established reputation for expert deficiency resolution and problem-solving has made him a sought after consultant, and an asset to all projects. An active BCA member, Al joined the BCA's Board of Directors (Eastern Chapter) in 2016.

Sinan Rasheed, Director-Projects, P Eng., PMP, CPMP, LEED AP

Sinan Rasheed graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree (B. Sc in Mechanical Engineering) from the University of Technology in Baghdad. He is a Professional Engineer of Ontario (P. Eng.), Project Management Professional (PMP) of PMI, LEED AP of the U.S. Green Building Council. Sinan is an ASHRAE member and earned his CPMP designation (Commissioning Process Management Professional) from ASHRAE in November 2012.

Solid experience (over 20 years) in mechanical Engineering ,Project Management, Commissioning, Facilities Management. Diversified experience in prestigious projects including Institutional, Universities, Healthcare projects. Loyal, strong management skills and communication skills. Energetic self-starter with strong personal values. Well-developed cross-cultural sensitivity and adaptability with people of different cultures. Proven interpersonal skills; competence in providing successful end-to-end services. Capable of consistent execution of routine while effectively creating opportunities for improved performance.

Prior to joining CFMS-West, Sinan spent 3 years in Dubai, UAE as a Senior Manager in Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority. During that period, Sinan was involved with all aspects of mechanical consulting, from conceptual to final design, tendering, construction site supervision, project management and project close-out.

Sinan joined CFMS-West in 2009 and has managed commissioning activities for many of CFMS-West's large projects including several specialty office buildings, Data Centers, Healthcare, Institutional and Industrial projects. He has also commissioned many LEED projects.

Sinan's extensive Project Management experience, his ability to utilize his Engineering knowledge and strong communication skills make him a valuable asset of the CFMS-West team. Sinan Rasheed became CFMS-West's Director of Projects in January 2013.

John Liefl, Project Manager, B.Sc., M.E.

John is an electrical specialist possessing 27 years of experience as a Journeyman Electrician.

John also gained extensive experience with BAS systems as an installer for both Siemens Building Automation and Johnson Controls. John's unique expertise includes wiring of motor control centers and mechanical systems, installation and wiring of main switchboards, generator installations, installation and troubleshooting of electrical distribution, branch wiring, lighting systems and fire alarm systems.

John understands the commissioning agent role and since joining our team in 2013, John has provided invaluable support in the commissioning of electrical systems. He has also confidently and capably lead the commissioning of mechanical systems on many projects.

Kevin Pellerin, Project Manager/Controls Specialist, Electronic Engineering Technologist, C.Tech, LEED AP BD+C

Kevin's extensive knowledge of controls benefits the commissioning role, as controls systems are essential to the efficient operation of modern, automated buildings and the integrated testing of highly technical systems. As our Controls Specialist, Kevin contributes invaluable skills, drawing upon his technologist training and his years of experience as a service technician, installation technician, lead systems specialist and project manager for leading controls systems companies. He also held the position of Operations Manager, North Bay Regional Health Centre, and developed additional relevant skills and insights managing the Building Automation system and CMMS system for this northern healthcare facility.

With his technical training, controls expertise, broad knowledge of building systems and his ambition and dedication, Kevin has become an essential member of the CFMS-West team. Since joining CFMS-West in 2015, Kevin earned his LEED AP BD+C designation, and has also been instrumental in exciting new projects, such as sourcing and implementing a real-time energy dashboard for forward thinking clients.

Mark Kacsmar, Control Specialist

Mark Kacsmar has been a Control Specialist with CFMS-West since 2006. He brings with him over 40 years of experience in the construction industry relating to temperature controls and building automation systems and commissioning services. Mark has been responsible for the overall commissioning and reporting of projects that have been assigned to him.

Prior to working with CFMS West, Mark was responsible for engineering and project managing the installation of building automation systems in new and retrofitted buildings. Mark also spent 22 years designing and managing the installation of building automation systems in the industrial and institutional marketers for South-western Ontario. Mark also has 9 years as the branch system designer for temperature control systems (pneumatic, electric and/or electronic) and building automation systems.

Mark has a thorough knowledge of, and the experience to manage the commissioning process. His knowledge and experience in building automation and commissioning building systems, project management, and his ability to work in a team environment is a valuable asset on any project.

Joelle Pattison, Marketing Manager

Joelle attended the University of Western Ontario (BA Hons, Political Science) and Seneca College (Diploma High Hons, Corporate Communications). Early in her career, Joelle worked as Director of Community Relations for the Hamilton Bulldogs and as Sales & Marketing Manager for Fox 40 International Inc. While raising two little ones, Joelle enjoyed some busy years at home and some part-time roles in the Financial Services industry.

Since joining CFMS-West in May 2012, Joelle quickly applied her skills to responding to RFPs. She has also provided valuable administrative support, compiling drawings and assisting with report documentation. With her growing knowledge of the building commissioning industry, Joelle is eager to support CFMS-West's continued growth in various niches including re-commissioning, retro-commissioning, and measurement and verification.

Tara Johnstone, Administrative Assistant

Prior to joining CFMS-West, Tara was a Buyer and Inventory Technician for various large industrial manufacturing companies. Tara brings her exceptional computer and accounting skills to CFMS-West, adeptly taking care of all accounts receivable and accounts payable. She also handles many human resource functions and supports all administrative aspects of CFMS-West business. Tara is a wonderful addition to our team, who always provides a warm welcome to visitors and callers, and is a capable, hardworking ambassador for CFMS-West.
